Laptop software repair

Windows that won't start, a virus, or a laptop that's slow for no clear reason.

A lot of laptops that seem finished turn out to have a software problem: a broken update, a full drive, a driver conflict or malware. That's good news, because software problems are usually the cheapest to fix.

We check the hardware too. A failing drive can look like a software problem, and reinstalling Windows on a dying drive just loses your files faster.

Signs it's software

  • Stuck on the logo, a blue screen or an automatic repair loop
  • Pop-ups, a changed browser homepage, or programs you didn't install
  • Very slow despite decent hardware
  • No Wi-Fi, sound or display after an update
  • You want a clean install before selling, or after buying

What we do

  • Check the drive's health before touching the system
  • Back up your files first
  • Repair the existing install where we can, or do a clean install of Windows or Linux where we can't
  • Install the right drivers for your model, and remove malware

What affects the price

  • A repair, or a clean install
  • How much data needs backing up and moving
  • Whether the drive needs replacing

Questions people ask

Will reinstalling Windows delete my files?
A clean install does, so we back them up first and put them back afterwards. You'll know which approach we're taking before we start.
My laptop is slow. Is it a virus?
Sometimes, but more often it's a hard drive, heat or too many programs starting with Windows. We find the actual cause before suggesting anything.

Send the model and what's wrong. You'll get a price range straight away and a fixed price once we've seen it.
