Data recovery

Files you need, on a drive that's failing or already dead.

If the drive is failing but still readable, we do the recovery in house. If it's hardware-dead, it goes to a recovery outfit we work with, who we rate as some of the best in Lebanon at getting data off dead hardware.

Nobody can promise your data back, and we won't either. You'll be told which of those two situations you're in, and what it costs, before anything is done. If you think a drive is failing, stop using it: every hour a failing drive stays powered on is data you might not get back.

Signs a drive is failing

  • The laptop asks to repair the disk, or says there's no bootable device
  • Clicking, beeping or grinding from inside
  • Files or folders that won't open, or have disappeared
  • Freezing whenever you open files
  • The drive isn't detected at all
  • The laptop is dead, but the files on it matter

What we do

  • Check the drive's health without writing anything to it
  • Recover readable data in house, onto a new drive or one of yours
  • Send hardware-dead drives to our recovery partner, once you've approved the price
  • Check the recovered files open before you get them back

Questions people ask

Can you recover data from a laptop that won't turn on?
Often, yes. If the drive itself is fine, we take it out and copy the data off. A dead laptop doesn't usually mean dead files.
Should I keep trying to turn it on?
No. A failing drive gets worse every time it runs. Turn it off and bring it in.
Can deleted files be recovered?
Sometimes, if nothing has been written over them yet. Stop using the laptop straight away to give yourself the best chance. On SSDs, deleted files are often gone quickly.
Do you look through my files?
No. We recover them and check they open. We don't browse them and we don't keep copies.
