Laptop motherboard repair
Won't turn on, died after a spill, or you've been told the motherboard is dead. Often it isn't, not the whole board.
When a laptop won't turn on, the cause can be as simple as the charger, the battery or the power button, so we rule those out first. If the fault really is on the motherboard, it usually comes down to one or a few failed components, not the whole board.
We don't do component-level board repair in house. Board faults go to a specialist we work with who does that work full time. You're told before your laptop goes, you see their findings, and you deal with us if anything isn't right. What you won't hear from us is that the motherboard is dead and you need a new one, when one part failed.
Signs it's the board
- No power at all: no lights, no fan
- Lights come on but nothing appears on screen, or it turns off after a few seconds
- It stopped working after a liquid spill
- It restarts or freezes at random
- No sound, no Wi-Fi or dead ports after a power surge
- You've been told elsewhere that the motherboard needs replacing
What we do
- Rule out the charger, battery, screen and RAM first
- After liquid damage, disconnect the battery straight away so the damage stops spreading
- Send board-level faults to our specialist, once you've approved the price
- Check the work when it comes back, and test the whole laptop before you get it back
What affects the price
- Which component failed, and whether it's available
- How much damage a spill caused, and how long the laptop stayed powered on
- Whether someone has already worked on the board
Questions people ask
- How much does laptop motherboard repair cost in Lebanon?
- It depends on which part failed. Repairing a component usually costs far less than a new board. You'll get the specialist's price before any work is done, and you can say no.
- My laptop got wet. What should I do?
- Unplug it, take the battery out if you can, don't try to switch it on, and bring it in as soon as possible. Rice doesn't help: the damage comes from corrosion and short circuits, which keep developing while there's power or moisture on the board.
- I was told my motherboard is dead. Should I believe it?
- Get a second opinion before paying for a new board or giving the laptop away. Many dead motherboards have one failed component. If yours isn't worth repairing, we'll tell you that too.
- Do you do chip-level repair?
- Not in house. Chip-level and component work goes to the board specialist we work with. You're told before it goes, and you see what they found.
Send the model and what's wrong. You'll get a price range straight away and a fixed price once we've seen it.
